First snow for California is set to fall this Wednesday, September 16th. According to forecasters, we should see approximatly .33" of preceipitation along and to the north if Interstate 80. If the system stays cold we could see snow accumulation above 7,000'. There should now be enough snow to impact travel but with the first of the season roads are expected to be slick and unpredictable. If all goes as predicted, we should be waking up to snow covered peaks on the morning of Thursday the 17th. According to the National Weather Service this should bring rain to aid the Valley Fire north of Sacramento but not to the Butte Fire, south. More on the winter storm here.
